About us.

This website hopes to serve as a platform to find and share excavations and field schools from around the world. It is here to encourage international and inter-continental relationships and experiences. If you run/know of an excavation please let us know so that other people may come to know of it too.

About Me: Ruby-Anne Birin

I entered my first year at Wits University in January 2014 (I live in South Africa which is why the academic year starts with the calendar year). By December I realised I would need to go onto an excavation to truly test whether I wanted to pursue this field further. Additionally, excavations seemed exciting, despite being a bit out of shape (uham... never been fit in my life). Google led me to a field school run by Harvard at the Leon Levy Excavation in Ashkelon. This experience would create a deep bond between myself, archaeology and many friends from around the globe. Several of my closest friends come from this and subsequent excavations (including Tel Shimron, Timna, Bokoni, Klassies River, Cannara). I hope that if Google led you here and whether this is your first/last or a dig amongst the many excavations you will do, that you too may see parts of the world you never knew existed, meet people you could not imagine living without and gain invaluable experiences.
